Smart City
Elevating living standards.
Project Background
The Modern City Development Project, located in Hatsayfong and Xaysettha Districts, Vientiane Capital, is part of the Vientiane Capital Strategic Development Plan for 2015 to 2030. Consequently, vacant land areas have been allocated for this purpose. This specific area is notably higher than other parts of the capital and is a flood-free zone. In contrast, the current inner city of Vientiane is low-lying and situated along the Mekong River. Having been established since 1560โover 450 years agoโthe city center experiences partial flooding annually. For this reason, the leadership of Vientiane Capital has designated this area as an urban expansion zone.
Therefore, Duangchalern Development Construction Group Sole Co., Ltd. received support from the Vientiane Capital leadership and approval from the Prime Minister of the Lao PDR, pursuant to the Letter of Authorization No. 78/PM, dated July 13, 2020. The company subsequently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the government, represented by the Ministry of Planning and Investment, to conduct a feasibility study and survey for the project.
